Meet your Maker!
Hi, I’m Donna Danielle – the founder and designer behind the brand Astra Designs UK, which I founded in June 2018.
With a life long passion for handcrafted products and growing up watching my mum and aunts sew I was always destined to be creative.
I fell into the world of geek fashion and Comic Cons naturally. As someone who loves fairies, fantasy, magic and mystery, as well as a superhero or two it gave me the passion to feed my creative side by creating new geek wear.
Sustainability
We’re huge advocates for eco-friendly products and combining my love for geek fashion and sustainability is a key value in our brand awareness and this has taken me on the journey to where we are right now.
Astra Designs UK, are proud to reuse and upcycle fabrics which would often end up in landfill.
With the fashion industry being the second biggest water polluter in the world, every bit helps.
In January 2020 we were delighted to be awarded a Plastic Free Champion status by Surfers Against Sewage in cooperation with Plastic Free Chesterfield. In 2021 and 2022 we were finalists in the sustainable business category for Chesterfield also.
A family business
I’m also a family woman and with 4 children from ages 8 to 23, I most certainly have my hands full when I put down my sewing cape at the end of the day.
You will often find family members including my mum and daughter directly involved either at events or assisting with admin and the daily running of the business. Astra Designs UK truly is a family business created with love and passion in every aspect.
